How It Works
The Truck Availability view inside the Availability Module gives your team full visibility into your fleet — helping you avoid scheduling mistakes, plan capacity accurately, and keep trucks on the road, not sitting idle.
Each row in this view represents a truck in your system, and each column represents a day. You’ll see real-time availability that reflects:
Scheduled jobs the truck is already assigned to
Maintenance or out-of-service days
Location assignment (especially important for multi-branch operators)
Vehicle tags (e.g., “Liftgate,” “Local Only,” “Out of Service”)
The module updates automatically based on what’s scheduled in the Dispatch calendar and what’s entered in the truck profile.

Benefits of the Truck Availability ✅
🔄 Real-Time Fleet Synchronization
As soon as a Work Order is dispatched with a truck, that assignment reflects on the Availability screen — so your team always knows what’s in use and what’s free.
🧯 Plan Around Downtime or Maintenance
You can block out dates when a truck is undergoing routine service or repairs. This prevents accidental assignments and gives your team time to reschedule or shuffle resources accordingly.
📍 Location-Aware Filtering
If you manage multiple locations, you can filter trucks by their assigned home base. This ensures you’re dispatching from the correct branch — saving unnecessary travel time and avoiding confusion during job staging.
.
📋 Detailed Truck Profiles
From each truck’s profile, you can configure:
Capacity limits
Features (e.g., liftgate, ramp, climate control)
Active/inactive status
Assigned tags for visibility
These details allow dispatchers to match the right truck to the job size or unique requirements (e.g., piano move needing a liftgate).
.
⚠️ Conflict Alerts
Movegistics automatically flags conflicts if you attempt to double-book a truck or assign one that’s marked out of service — helping you avoid costly mistakes before they happen.
.
🔍 Fleet Utilization Insight
Use availability views to analyze how often certain trucks are being scheduled. This can help with:
Maintenance planning
Asset investment decisions (e.g., do you need more 26' trucks?)
Identifying underutilized vehicles
.
📅 Plan for Long-Distance Jobs
If a truck will be out for multiple days (e.g., interstate job), you can manually block out those days as “Unavailable” — even if the Work Order hasn’t been dispatched yet. This keeps your schedule honest and prevents overbooking during busy weeks.
.
🔖 Truck Tags Make Sorting Easy
Tags like “Heavy Duty,” “Local,” or “Needs Tires” make it easy to sort and identify special-use vehicles.

Pro Tips for Managing Truck Availability
Always add maintenance entries or notes to the truck’s profile to explain out-of-service dates.
Use tags for categorization — especially if you have a large fleet or seasonal trucks.
Run monthly reviews to spot trucks that are underused or overbooked.
.
.
Together, Staff and Truck Availability give you a centralized hub to confidently plan your jobs without playing scheduling roulette. Whether you're dispatching three trucks or thirty, Movegistics makes it easy to see where your assets stand — and where they’re headed next.
