What Packing Rates Do 🔄

Packing Rates in Movegistics help you configure:

• Customer Rates: What the customer is charged for the container, packing, and unpacking.

• Company Costs: Your internal cost of materials and labor for each packing activity.

• Duration Metrics: How long it takes, in minutes, to pack and unpack each item. This feeds into job timelines and crew allocation.

Each packing profile supports multiple container types like Book Cartons, Dish Packs, Wardrobe Boxes, etc., and allows you to assign a Service Type (Local, Intrastate, Interstate, Commercial, International).

This level of detail ensures:

• Precision in billing

• Accurate scheduling

• Segmented tracking across move types

How to Add or Edit a Packing Rate ⚙️

1. Navigate to Settings > Pricing > Packing.

2. Click the blue + button to add a new packing profile.

3. Enter a profile name (e.g., “Interstate Packing”) and select a Service Type from the dropdown:

   • Local

   • Intrastate

   • Interstate

   • Commercial

   • International

4. For each packing material listed, fill in the following fields:

   • Customer Container Rate: Charge for providing the box.

   • Customer Pack Rate: Charge for packing the item.

   • Customer Unpack Rate: Charge for unpacking.

   • Company Container Rate: Internal cost of the box.

   • Company Pack Rate: Internal labor cost for packing.

   • Company Unpack Rate: Internal labor cost for unpacking.

   • Pack Duration (In Minutes): Time taken to pack this item.

   • Unpack Duration (In Minutes): Time taken to unpack this item.

5. Once all values are entered, click Add Packing to save the profile.

This is especially useful when paired with hourly rate tables, which determine labor charges based on time, number of crew members, and trucks required. When durations are accurate, Movegistics can more reliably forecast estimated move time and labor costs.
